Bugatti execs confirmed back in April that the Veyron supercar would eventually spawn an even more exclusive roofless ‘Targa’ model, but apart from a few minor details nothing much was detailed about the new car. According to Edmunds, the Veyron Targa could make its first appearance as early as next month with a planned debut for the 2008 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
Full production of the car isn’t expected to start until early next year, with only a very small batch of cars planned and each at a price of close to $2 million and will be the last variation of Veyron.

Specifics on the new car are few, but according to AutoTelegraaf Bugatti CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen has announced the new car will be coming. So far the design priorities are that the car mesh with the company’s storied history and that it evolve the basic idea behind the Veyron. As Paefgen put it, “A totally different direction is not an option.”
Keeping the car in the tradition of the Veyron could pose some problems in terms of emissions and fuel economy standards, however, and that will be one of the primary issues the engineers will have to solve. Paefgen does not want to yield the essential nature of the cars anymore than he wants to see them go out of existence.
