Peugeot has launched a new standard for identifying the ‘greenest’ cars in its range as a nod towards increasing concerns over the environmental impact of cars and rising fuel prices. Dubbed the ‘Blue Lion’ standard, the initiative is a little late to the party, with Ford having launched its ECOnetic line almost a year ago and Volkswagen’s Bluemotion launching several months before that.

Peugeot has released the first set of images and details for its upcoming 308 CC, which is set to make its world debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. Based on the new 308 platform launched in standard hatchback form last year, the changes for the latest CC variant are significant.

Mitsubishi has today confirmed that the Concept-cX from last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show will enter production as a new compact crossover model designed to sit under the current Outlander. The new model will feature a constant AWD system and will be the showcase Mitsubishi’s environmental awareness by debuting a family of Euro-5 clean diesel engines.
