Following in the footsteps of Lexus, Nissan is testing a high-performance rear-wheel drive hybrid system on the Infiniti G35 / G37 Sedan. Developed in house by Nissan, the parallel-power train system comprises a system with two clutches, where one motor is directly connected to an engine and transmission via two separate clutches. Depending on the driving conditions, the motor switches between the two clutches to optimize and conserve energy utilization as well as improve fuel-efficiency.

Nissan is stepping up its efforts to create safer cars with the All-Around Collision Free prototype that incorporates two new technologies – Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP) that promise to protect the vehicle and its occupants from potential risks coming from multiple directions. Interestingly, both technologies utilize the already available Distance Control Assist (DCA) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems.

While most carmakers attempt to improve the fuel efficiency of their vehicles by shedding weight, improving aerodynamics or downsizing engines, Nissan is taking a slightly different approach by conditioning motorists to drive more conservatively. Nissan unveiled today a new device called the ECO Pedal that works by activating a counter ‘push-back’ force on the accelerator pedal every time the driver puts his or her foot down.

Nissan Motorsports International Co., Ltd. (NISMO) is set to unveil the latest additions to it’s catalog later this month when they announce the availability of the new Nissan R35 GT-R tuning packages. In typical Nismo style, tuning parts will be made available in upgrade packages with features optimised with specific goals in mind. Upgraded street spec tunes to circuit focused packages will be available. The official announcement is expected on the 20th of August.
